The Department of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (AI&DS) was established in the academic year 2026-2027 to meet the rapidly growing demand for engineers and researchers skilled in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data-driven technologies. The department aims to build a strong foundation in data structures, statistical learning, deep learning, and their applications across healthcare, finance, industry automation, and business intelligence.
The AI&DS program has an annual intake of 60 seats, in response to the increasing industry demand for professionals who can design, develop, and deploy intelligent, data-driven systems. Artificial Intelligence and Data Science is widely regarded as one of the fastest growing and most sought-after fields in computer science and engineering today. The department is accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi.
The program emphasizes creative and analytical thinking, the ability to critically understand data patterns and computational intelligence, and the development of strong problem-solving, communication, interpersonal, and collaborative skills needed to work in multidisciplinary teams spanning statistics, mathematics, and computer science.
The department is equipped with state-of-the-art computing facilities, including high-performance GPU clusters, cloud computing platforms, and dedicated data science labs to support machine learning model development and big data research. Labs are set up with software such as Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, Hadoop, and other data science and AI frameworks. The computer center is fully air-conditioned with adequate UPS backup and high-speed internet connectivity through dedicated leased lines and campus-wide wi-fi access points.
The program is designed to prepare graduates for placements and research opportunities in leading technology companies and research institutions working on AI and data science, as well as for higher studies in prestigious institutions in India and abroad. The department maintains strong industry and academic collaborations to enrich the learning experience of its students.
The department maintains a dedicated library with prescribed and reference textbooks in artificial intelligence, machine learning, data science, and related areas, along with access to online journals and resources in the field.
The program is handled by a dedicated team of qualified faculty members with expertise in artificial intelligence, data science, mathematics, and computer science. The department is committed to fostering quality research and encourages faculty to pursue advanced research and doctoral studies in emerging areas of AI and data technology.
The Department of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science envisions Global Excellence and Local Relevance in Teaching, Technology Development, and Research. The Department offers a B.Tech program in AI & Data Science, aiming to train students to become competent and motivated engineers and scientists equipped to tackle the challenges of intelligent, data-driven systems.
The undergraduate curriculum is designed to provide flexibility, enabling students to specialize in advanced areas such as machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, and big data analytics. A combination of compulsory and elective courses allows students to tailor their academic journey. With AI & Data Science being inherently interdisciplinary, students are encouraged to pursue a diverse range of interests spanning mathematics, statistics, and computer science.
The department looks forward to continuing to build a dedicated faculty team and a vibrant community of students who will pioneer advancements in artificial intelligence and data science.
